Etsy Shop Updates

January has been an exciting month for my Tangents Etsy shop! I have had the great pleasure of creating and shipping an influx of cedar slice painting orders. These are definitely my current favorite creations. The metallic paint I use creates a shimmery effect that still allows some of the grain from the natural wood slice to shine through. I still have several available at Tangents, and would love to send them off to a good home!

More Custom Friendship Necklaces

I recently created another custom order for wooden friendship necklaces. Now, I've made several mountain necklaces before, but these are extra special, because they include a tiny painting of a tower that is near the recipient's home. This one was a challenge, but I'd be a liar if I said I didn't love painting tiny things. I can't quite explain why, but tiny paintings just really make me smile.

Stuffed Whale and Starfish

As I've probably mentioned before, I'm definitely not an expert seamstress. However, I can't resist a cuddly minky fabric. I wish everything was made of that extra soft, bumpy stuff! I got some use out of a little piece of minky while making a couple of stuffed animals for my one-year-old nephew, Trey, this Christmas.

With the help of some free internet patterns (which, by the way, were in a language that I CANNOT read), I created a simple whale and a little starfish (that's where the minky came in handy). My stitching is definitely amateurish, but I still love how they turned out. My new goal is to practice creating things like this so that someday you won't be able to tell where I hand-stitched at all!

Vacation Seashell Trinket Tray

Earlier this year, my grandma gave me a basket full of shells that she had picked from the beach during a Florida vacation. I used most of the shells to create jewelry for Watercolor Submarine, but I saved a special extra large one to make a Christmas gift for my grandma. I painted the shell with a Florida palm tree theme to celebrate the vacation she was on when she found the shell. I also hot glued on a couple of little pearl beads to act as feet to stabilize the shell. I'm imagining it full of little rings and things on her dresser.

"Camp Rule" Sign

I made this rustic cedar slice sign for a family gift exchange. We're a group of crazy campers, so it fit in perfectly!  I have to admit, I chuckled a bit while I was painting that old fashioned tent. We are definitely fifth-wheel campers all the way! But I have slept in a tent before... so it's kind of accurate.

This lovely piece of outdoors-y art is approximately 11" long and 5" high and has a sawtooth hanger attached to the back for easy displaying. It's hand painted with acrylics and is not sealed with varnish, because I wanted to let that gorgeous cedar smell waft from the sign.

I don't currently have any in stock, but I can definitely make a similar product for anyone who is interested!
